Letting Loose

Trying some new ideas with 21st teaching–I have invited about 30-35 students in during lunchtime–yes–eating in the library to hear me read a book called, Capture the Flag.  It is a cute mystery perfect for this age group.

What I have added:  Backchanneling with Todaysmeet.com so that student can chat.  But more importantly as we get more into the book this week–make predictions on who might be the culprit who stole the american flag.  I have also set up a Blog in Bb to get students to post on different topics.

I have given a few guidelines and then started.  Backchanneling was interesting–by third day we had some inappropriate text so then I was able to teach again about ettiquette for chatting and blogging.

Students seem to be engaged–will see how it goes this week.
